Like anyone is going to take it out on nassau coliseum employees like they had something to do with it. Come on. Most fans have friends that work there or have at least gotten to know someone who works there. Complete reach on this one. The only thing that would cause issues at the coliseum would be this team crapping the bed and Snow keeping capuano on. Thats about it.

This is ridiculous.... any sane person would not blame a NVMC employee for the move to Brooklyn.

I'm starting to think she writes this stuff on purpose to get certain types of responses from us.

I'm still waiting for a blog that's actually focused on the game of hockey rather than the social or political structures surrounding the team...it's misleading and confusing.

I want to know about line combinations and systems and which prospect to watch out for, stats etc etc. where's the meat and potatoes? I don't give a flying frank about pink jerseys and the new socks the ice girls will be wearing (not that I don't like ice girls, I just don't care if they have socks on or not).

no way buddy, when we traded for boychuk all I wanted to know was when he was going to be at the team store and whether it was a shorts or pants day.

Don’t ruin it for me.

Huh? Really?

Is this just another passive-aggressive way to vent about the team moving? An indirect manner of complaining about the team moving and "the loyal fan base" being abandoned and having to resort to a train ride to see their beloved team?

Hey, I'd like to give a shout out to the parking lot toll booth attendant who overcharged ($20 when the sign said $10) me for parking last time I drove to the Coli for a game. Good luck finding work, pal. I will miss you.

Oh, but wait, Dee.

The Coliseum isn't closing just yet, as the Isles only play 42 games there a season and there's 365 days in a year.
But when it is renovated, I imagine ALL the parking/concession workers and the maintenance staff, etc will be temporarily unemployed which sucks—no one should have to lose their jobs so a richer person can make more money but that's the way the world works.

Of course Dee, if you would like to put a face(and a name) to blame for the NVMC's employees who will be losing revenue and eventually, their full-time jobs, why don't you post a picture of Kate Murray and list her home address so they can share their feelings with her. I'm sure someone out there knows that info.

Really refreshing to see Dee bringing some sorely needed class to the NY Islanders fanbase.

It needed to be said. It needed a quality, succinct, intelligent, non-condescending, write up.

All too often, we hear that professional sports are a "business." It's almost as if players and owners think about money. It's shameful, frankly. It is essential that, occasionally, we receive a subtle, mature, respectable reminder - that doesn't in the least come off as a mother scolding her insolent children - that professional hockey is not at all about money.

Deep down, we all know that the nonsensical machinations of owners, venues, and multimillion dollar decisions are unimportant. Skills, stats, scores, and standings aren't what sports are all about. It doesn't matter who wins, who is able to afford to ice a team, or how much players make. It's not a competition.

What matters is that hockey is a mirror raised to the face of humanity. This kind reminder penned by our intrepid blogger really helped drive that idea home. If Dee hadn't brought this up, we'd all be complicit in an assault on our very our humanity:

At first, they came for the hotdog vendors, but I did not speak up because I eat premio sausages.

Then they came for the sign guy, but I did not speak up because I am jealous of his seats.

Then they came for the capless soda bottle purveyors, but I did speak up because I drink $9.75 mini Coors Lights.

Then they came for the bathroom custodians, but I did not speak up because I enter through the exits, cut the line, pee with both hands on the wall, initiate chit-chat midstream, and never wash my hands.

Then they came for the game ops guys, but I did not speak up because I've never come close on a 50-50 and they replaced Chipotle giveaways with Moe's.

Then they came for the two-toothed guy selling unsalted pretzels on a burning shopping cart in the snow, but I did not speak up because they are cold on the inside and wet on the outside.

Then they came for the Hodor-looking giant selling $5 counterfeit hats in the parking lot, but I did not speak up because, quite frankly, he terrifies me.

Then they came for Chris Botta's credentials, but I did not speak up because you don't need credentials or, apparently, writing skills to write about the New York Islanders.

Then they came for me. And there was no one left to speak up for me...because this is a HOCKEY WEBSITE not a human interest blog.

Of course she does, this is the only topic she continually beats to death like someone is actually blaming the NVMC staff for County incompetence. Maybe Dee should take a lesson from Howie and be discussing this year and this year only. Worry about Brooklyn next year. Enough with this crap from you...
